Access was incorporated in January 2022 in Airdrie, Alberta. We are a local community-based organization that aims to give ALL Children and Youth equal access to inclusive programs, basic necessities and life-changing opportunities. We foster potential through exceptional programs, including safe and reliable summer childcare, youth leadership programs, and provide funding to cover critical psychoeducational assessments. Countless children have discovered their potential and charted a new course in their lives by accessing safe, welcoming, and inclusive programs.
Access has also created a sponsorship program that provides low-income families access to funding for psychoeducation assessments. A psychoeducational assessment is a way to determine your child's strengths and challenges in many different areas. Not only are these insights empowering but also act as a roadmap for ensuring your child learns and develops to their full potential. Once parents receive the final report, they have access to support, including counsellors, therapists, aides, medications and so many more essential benefits. However, these assessments can easily cost over $2000 per child. When parents feel that they are out of options and are forced to choose between feeding their families or paying for their child to receive a crucial assessment, through financial donations and partnering with local Registered Psychologists we have been able to put an end to those barriers.
Our Youth Leadership Program is also an essential part of who we are, our primary focus for our participants is on developing leaders with true compassion and empathy. Our participants go out into local communities and offer their time to organizations that need it the most. After extensive preparations and fundraising, our teams have the opportunity to travel internationally where they will participate in humanitarian outreach projects including supporting street feeding programs, and volunteering in orphanages, senior homes, youth centres, teen pregnancy centres, shelters. Our teams will support teachers with primary school projects including painting, maintenance, landscaping, also cleaning the school grounds and making the facilities safe. We will also host community children’s camps and create safe programs for children and their families. The Cost for the upcoming trip is approximately $2,300 per person which covers airfare, ground transportation, accommodations, meals, campus security and additional any materials required for volunteering.
This year, Access plans on raising $50,000.00 which will go directly to the protentional of our next generation. $30,000 will provide critical funding for 15 families in receiving psychoeducational assessments.
$10,000 will allow us to subsidize an additional 10 summer camp spots.
$10,000 will support, celebrate and grow our youth leadership programs.
